Conditions of Employment for a Nanny
Daily live out nannies usually work from 8/8.30am-6/6.30pm. Babysitting is not included and should be negotiated separately. Hours worked outside of this should be paid at the agreed rate or time off should be given in lieu. Nannies are entitled to a minimum of 5.6 weeks paid annual leave (28 days for someone working five days a week) bank and public holidays can be included in your minimum entitlement.
Hours worked for live in nannies are likely to be between 7.00/8am and 6.30/7pm. One or two evenings babysitting should be negotiated within the contract. A live in nanny would expect to have weekends free.
Automatic enrolment requires all employers – including nanny employers - to make sure they have a pension in place for their employee.
Most nannies will need to be automatically enrolled into the pension scheme, and both the nanny and the employer will have to contribute to it. Your payroll company can administer the pension scheme for you.
